Privacy policy
Local‑first, by design.
Your attention data should not become someone else’s business model. Here is exactly what Focus Guardian does — and refuses to do — with your data.
What never happens
Focus Guardian does not capture screenshots, record keystrokes, record your microphone, record your screen, or collect your browsing history. These are design lines, not settings.
What stays on your device
While protection runs, the Windows app observes the active foreground app, window title, and active browser URL to classify activity and detect drift. The resulting activity events — including exact URLs and any typed continuation reasons — are stored in a local database on your device (%LOCALAPPDATA%\FocusGuardian).
What reaches our servers
- AI setup drafts: when you use AI‑assisted setup, the onboarding answers you type are sent to our proxy to generate a draft. They are used for that request and are not used to build a profile of you.
- ambiguous activity review: when local rules cannot tell whether an activity supports your goal, the app may send our proxy a minimized summary: protected goal, app name, process name, window title, active duration, and a minimized URL. Exact local URLs, subscription details, email addresses, and installation IDs are not sent to AI review. The review request is not tied to your account and is not stored by Focus Guardian.
- Subscription status: your app’s installation ID and subscription state are checked so the app can unlock. The installation ID is a random identifier — it is not your name, email, or device fingerprint.
Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe, not to us. Stripe’s handling of payment data is governed by Stripe’s privacy policy.
What we don’t do with data
We do not sell data, share it with advertisers, or monetize attention patterns. Activity data is used to protect you, not to profile you.
Deleting your data
Your activity history is yours to destroy: uninstall the app and delete %LOCALAPPDATA%\FocusGuardian. To remove subscription records, cancel your subscription and contact support.
Questions
Privacy questions go to a person, not a void: contact support.
